Day 3: Taking Tea with Jane

Jane Austen Experiment
Day 1: Sitting Pretty
Day 2: Emulating Emma Woodhouse

Perhaps you would like some tea, as soon as it can be got.” They both declared they should prefer it to anything.
-Mansfield Park

I have a brother in law who hates that we all buy him ammo and hand sanitizer for his birthday. Yeah, you should probably be glad I am not picking out presents for you all at this point, but you don't know my brother in law, and he needs to accept that he is the ammo and sanitizer guy. Embrace it.  I tend to be the food person, and I have accepted that identifier like a sponge accepts water. My favorite genre of food related items would undoubtedly be tea-wares. But they can be hard on my budget: when we visit our favorite tea shop, I squeal with delight, and find myself saying things like "Oh, but I really need this more than I need air conditioning..." So my dear sister, who knows me so well, who has taken tea with me here:

(Empress Tea Room, Victoria, BC)

And here:

(London- Not the houses of Parliament, although that would be cooler...)

And here:

(St. James Tearoom, New Mexico)

gave me this last year...

and just today, I found these:

They were a wedding gift from an eleven year old brother who was so thoughtful, that he knew what I would like most of all in the world, and bought it with his own little allowance money.

So I thought to celebrate Jane and all the wonderful things she has brought to my life, I would take tea at my humble little home with just a couple of the wonderful things my loved ones have brought to my life. I hope you've had a lovely, tea-party-esque day.

    1. Hahaha yes he is. Yes he is. And the only reason I got to take tea at the first one was jointly because Erika was paying, and you were babysitting my eldest. So thank you forever! :)

  2. What beautiful tea rooms! I used to get excited about a fine bottle of wine. Now, I'm thrilled to unwrap little packets of loose tea and fill my grandma's old tea tins. I do wish the staff would set the tea table up on the lawn! ~ Maureen

    1. Oh I do too! :) But I have seen your winter pics of your house, Maureen, and I don't think that tea party is going to be very comfortable on the lawn, haha. But I am jealous of your cozy wintry paradise. Here it's just dead grass :( Thanks for stopping by!

  3. What a fun family (and darling little brother) you have! These are wonderful tearooms and yes, Parliment would be a cool place to have tea (and don't you just know there are places there for people to do just that; all you have to be is a PM, or a Member of Parliment!). Great tea set and spoons.
